Bio

Laura (Bohon) Hausler is an emerging artist whose work explores the intersection of observation, memory, and reflection. Her artistic journey has taken her from Florence, Italy, to Chattanooga, Tennessee, Seattle, Washington, and currently Franklin, Tennessee. She believes artwork is a tangible manifestation of personal experience and universal phenomena, creating bridges between inner and outer worlds. She is an associate member of the organization Oil Painters of America, and American Women Artists.

Laura's artistic foundation was shaped by an alchemy of influences and rigorous training. In 2012, she immersed herself in studies at the Florence Academy of Art, mastering techniques in charcoal and graphite through figure drawing, master copies, and anatomical studies. This traditional training continues to inform her work, regardless of medium or subject matter.

Her practice is enriched by her unique background in kinesiology and holistic wellness. With a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Kinematics, Laura brings an understanding of human anatomy and movement to her artistic work. This interdisciplinary approach allows her to create artwork that speaks to both physical form and energetic presence.

She continues to push her ideas by emphasizing tangible & connective experiences with objects, spaces, and people.

Laura is actively connected to learning communities worldwide such as the New York Academy of Art, Studio Escaliar in France, and Grand Central Academy in New York.

Laura’s experiences have led to opportunities to display her work in juried student exhibitions at ETSU and abroad with SACI in Florence, Italy.

Teaching Philosophy

Laura's evolution as an artist has ignited a passion for teaching at all levels. Her teaching philosophy centers on the belief that artistic growth emerges from a combination of self-inquiry, spontaneous exploration, and deliberate practice. While technical skill forms the foundation, curiosity drives the journey forward. She creates an environment where students learn to articulate their process, analyze their creations, and expand their artistic vocabulary through experimentation.

Through careful observation, Laura creates work that invites viewers to experience their own moments of connection and discovery. While her work is grounded in representation, it transcends mere depiction to explore the deeper phenomena of perception and memory. She is inspired by the relational merging of modern and traditional perspectives in artistic dialogue. Her practice balances serious artistic inquiry with playful curiosity, bringing vitality to her process.

Laura is a passionate artist and facilitator of training and study for fellow creatives.
