Portrait Play
This portrait was exciting, and to be honest, if mixing paint isn’t exciting, then I’m likely needing to take a break or change up how I mix. The challenge and joy of pigment are invigorating in a way that is innate to humans. I love making a day of it, mixing.
Each time I paint, I use different brushes. Which ones I use depends on the surface I want to paint. There are so many brushes to try, and I find that it’s very natural to engage with the desire to change how I use my tools. The way particular bristles touch the surface. And how I’ve handeled the impremattura all work together for my delight and discerning devotion to the piece.
Below are some evolutionary photos I snapped, and at the botto of this post is the large image of where I left th paiting for now. Inerestingly, I love the middle process photo and could aim to lave my work at similar phase for a body pf pieces in the future.
